Parliamentary Finance calls on the World Bank to present new ideas for the “Development Road” project

The Chairman of the Finance Committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, discussed with the World Bank delegation the development road project and the energy sector in Iraq, calling for the submission of new visions and ideas for the project. A statement from the Media Department of the House of Representatives stated, “The Chairman of the Finance Committee received a World Bank delegation headed by the Regional Director for the Middle East, Jean-Christophe Carré, to discuss support for the development road project and the energy sector in Iraq.” He added, "The meeting reviewed the economic vision of the Development Road Project and its strategic importance in stimulating investment, maximizing non-oil revenues, and providing job opportunities." He continued, "He also discussed the multi-stage support provided by the World Bank for the development road project, including modernizing and rehabilitating the current railway network and linking it from southern Iraq through the north and reaching Turkey, in addition to discussing the continued support from the World Bank for the energy sector in Iraq, especially with regard to strengthening Electricity network, renewable energy development and regional connectivity.”
