The coordination framework confirmed that no political agreement had been reached regarding the nomination of a new speaker of the House of Representatives.
The leader of the framework, Ali Al-Zubaidi, said in a press statement: “Until now, there is no agreement between the political forces regarding the nomination of the new Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, pointing out that everyone was busy with the local elections and the post-election results and others during the past days.”
Al-Zubaidi stated, “The next few days will witness the return of dialogues and negotiations regarding the nomination of the new speaker of parliament, and we expect that the new president will be named in the middle of next month, indicating that resolving this issue before the end of the current year is unlikely due to the differences.”
The House of Representatives was scheduled to hold a session to elect a new president before the local elections, but the session was postponed until further notice without specifying a date.
