    Economy News - Baghdad
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Moussa, explained today, Wednesday, that the real problem of electricity is the lack of sufficient fuel to operate the stations, which caused power outages and lack of full equipment.
Moussa said in a televised interview followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that the first problem in the failure of electricity to reach full production is the lack of fuel for the stations and reliance on Iranian fuel, which does not cover all needs, as well as the waste of local gas to this day, noting that Iraq needs 40,000 megawatts to meet its electricity needs.
He added that there is no local gas to provide to operate the power stations, so a contract was signed with Iran for five years to provide us with fuel. He
pointed out that the ministry cannot rely on kerosene to operate the stations because it is very expensive, as the price of one barrel is equivalent to $ 600, and our stations need one million barrels per day, equivalent to 6 billion dinars.
