    Information / Baghdad...
After the recent American targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces headquarters in Jurf al-Nasr and the fall of a number of martyrs and wounded from the Popular Mobilization Forces, the demands to expel American forces from Iraq have increased, considering them hostile occupying forces that use their presence as a starting point to attack Iraqi forces and national figures.
A security source reported, on Tuesday, that an explosion occurred in Jurf al-Nasr, north of Babil Governorate.
The source told Al-Maalouma, "The explosion may have been caused by an American bombing of a Popular Mobilization Forces camp in Jurf al-Nasr in Babil Governorate, as eyewitnesses confirmed hearing the sound of a drone near the targeted site."
He added, "The explosion resulted in the martyrdom of a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces and two wounded as a preliminary result, while ambulances rushed to the explosion site to retrieve the martyrs and rescue the wounded."
The Governor of Babylon, Adnan Fayhan, directed the mobilization of medical teams and Al-Musayyab Hospital to treat the wounded Popular Mobilization Forces in Jurf Al-Nasr.
Away from the statements issued by national figures who demanded the withdrawal of American forces with all insistence, the General Command of the Iraqi Armed Forces issued a strongly worded statement against the Americans, and this is the first time that such a statement has been issued by this party.
The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces issued a strongly worded statement today, Wednesday, against the backdrop of the American attack that targeted yesterday the Jurf al-Nasr area in Babil Governorate, which resulted in martyrs and wounded from the Popular Mobilization Forces.
The official spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, stated in a statement received by / Al-Maalouma /, that "despite all efforts through political and diplomatic channels, and the efforts made by the Supreme Military Technical Committees, and reaching advanced stages of ending the file of the presence and work of the International Coalition Forces to fight ISIS in Iraq, and the transition to a bilateral security relationship based on mutual respect and affirming Iraq's sovereignty and security, the International Coalition Forces committed a heinous crime and blatant attack after targeting, with fighter jets coming from across the border, Iraqi sites affiliated with the security services in northern Babil Governorate, at 22:45 on Tuesday, July 30, which led to the martyrdom of a number of members of our security forces in the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the wounding of a number of others without any justification for this reckless and irresponsible aggressive act."
He added, "Such serious and uncalculated violations are likely to undermine, to a large extent, all efforts, mechanisms and contexts of joint security work to combat ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and are likely to drag Iraq and the entire region into conflicts, wars and dangerous repercussions. Therefore, we hold the international coalition forces fully responsible for these repercussions after they carried out this brutal aggression."
He continued, "The international coalition to fight ISIS is present and operating in Iraq within a specific mandate, for a specific mission and an agreed upon common enemy. These attacks represent a serious breach of this mission and mandate. Iraq will take appropriate legal and diplomatic measures to preserve its rights and everything that would confirm its security and sovereignty over its lands and protect them, and what would ensure that the rights of the heroic martyrs are taken, and those responsible for the attack are held accountable."
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Saturday that the attack on the Jurf al-Nasr district in Babil Governorate represented a "violation of Iraq's sovereignty."
A statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office received by Al-Maalouma Agency stated that "the Prime Minister received a phone call from US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken."
During the call, the Prime Minister stressed "Iraq's position of rejecting any aggression against Iraqi territory," noting that the attack on the Jurf al-Nasr area represented a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
At the same time, Al-Sudani renewed "the Iraqi government's commitment to protecting the international coalition advisors present in Iraq."
The statement added that "the call discussed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, and the efforts made by Iraq to contain the serious repercussions of the repeated attacks on the Gaza Strip, and to work to establish calm, stop the aggression, and ensure that the war does not expand in a way that poses a real threat to security and stability in the region."
The Iraqi government also issued a strongly worded statement today, Wednesday, in response to the recent US bombing of Iraqi territory, considering it a dangerous escalation and an encroachment on the mission of the "International Coalition."
Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency: "The Iraqi government confirms that it is dealing with the recent escalation witnessed in the Iraqi arena during the past two days as a dangerous escalation that constitutes an unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty, which we are committed, under all circumstances, to preserving, protecting and defending, in accordance with the constitutional and legal duties of the government."
Al-Awadi added: "We strongly condemn the attack that targeted the Jurf al-Nasr area, which took place without the knowledge of the Iraqi government authorities, which is a clear violation of sovereignty and an attempt to disrupt the stable internal security situation."
For his part, former MP Ali Jabbar warned today, Thursday, against the continued presence of American forces in Iraq, indicating that their attacks are part of the agenda of the Zionist entity.
Jabbar told Al-Maalouma, "America has bases in a number of countries in the region, and its attacks against Iraq are launched from these bases, which requires ending its presence in Iraq completely."
He explained that "the American presence in Iraq is to repel the threats that target this entity."
He added, "America has bases outside Iraq in Jordan, the Zionist entity, and other countries, and works through these bases to carry out its attacks in the countries of the region to serve the interests of the occupying entity."
He stressed the need to "implement the agreements with Washington and remove these forces from the country."
In the same context, Aqil Al-Radini, a member of the Victory Coalition, confirmed that Iraq does not need the presence of foreign forces on its territory in light of the presence of Iraqi forces capable of preserving sovereignty.
Al-Radini told Al-Maalouma, "The government demanded the withdrawal of the international coalition forces (US forces) from the country, and there were understandings about implementing this matter."
He added, "Iraq has the ability to defend its sovereignty and territory away from the intervention of American forces, although those forces were objecting to the demands for their exit and worked to link them to the official request submitted by the Iraqi government."
He said, "The government took its steps and submitted an official request to withdraw the coalition forces from Iraq. As a result, specialized committees were formed between Baghdad and Washington in order to continue meeting to ensure the withdrawal of these forces from the country." End 25N
