    Baghdad Today - Diyala
Politician Ali Khawam Al-Tamimi announced, today, Thursday (August 8, 2024), the arrival of a delegation representing Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to Diyala Governorate to meet with the sheikhs of the Bani Tamim tribe and discuss 3 vital files.
Al-Tamimi said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "A high-ranking security delegation headed by the deputy commander of joint operations, the head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, and other security leaders arrived a short while ago at Sheikh Mazen Mulla Jawad's guest house near Baqubah to meet with sheikhs and elites of the Bani Tamim tribe to discuss three vital files, most notably the Arbaeen visit and ways to enhance efforts to make it a success, postpone any peaceful demonstrations or sit-ins until after the end of the visit, and seek to determine the most important demands of the elites and sheikhs of the tribe regarding the current situation in Diyala."
He added that "the delegation carried an important message from Al-Sudani stressing the importance of the tribal dimension and its strengthening of stability and civil peace, ensuring reassurance and seeking to resolve any demands in accordance with the constitutional frameworks, noting that the Bani Tamim tribe confirmed that it would postpone any demonstrations to demand its entitlements until after the end of the Arbaeen visit."
It is noteworthy that the sheikhs and elites of the Bani Tamim tribe supported demonstrations and sit-ins in recent days in order to confirm their entitlement to the position of Diyala governor for one of their competent sons.
