The head of the committee, Majid Shankali, said that the number of applicants from medical professions for appointment in the Ministry of Health currently is approximately 57,800, while 29,800 job positions have been allocated to this ministry, which means that there is a shortage of approximately 28,000 positions. If graduates of science colleges are added, the number may become more than 32,000.

Shankali added that the committee, in response to the demands of the demonstration of graduates of medical colleges and health institutes, sent a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office demanding their appointment, noting that this group of graduates cannot bear the mistakes of previous governments that issued a royal order stipulating that no new medical colleges should be opened in addition to reducing the number of accepted students.

The head of the Health Committee stressed the need to amend the Medical Progression Law to guarantee the rights of the state and graduates of health professions, calling for the amendment to include those who joined the study during the current year, according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.
