    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Political researcher Aid Al-Hilali confirmed today, Sunday (September 1, 2024), that the successes of the government of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani on various levels prompted some political parties to launch systematic campaigns to target it.
Al-Hilali told Baghdad Today: “The government’s statement, through its spokesman, Bassem Al-Awadi, was clear and obvious that it is being targeted, and everyone is now aware that it did not come out of nowhere, but rather was organized and studied by parties that were provoked by the government’s performance and popular satisfaction with Al-Sudani’s government and its high commitment to implementing its government program within the agreed upon timeframes, not to mention the policy of economic and diplomatic openness and the return of Iraq as one of the main players in shaping the region’s policies, as well as initiating reconstruction and development programs and striking the dens of corruption and the balanced policy in addressing all problems, which until recently were a factor causing great anxiety and headaches for all previous governments.”
He explained that "Iraq today is witnessing unprecedented stability and the street is fully aware of such cheap methods practiced by others in order to obstruct government performance, stop the wheel of development and return Iraq to their policies that have dragged the country into ruin, destruction and corruption in the joints of the Iraqi state. The steps taken by Al-Sudani's government to correct the course of the political process and restore the citizens' confidence in it and in the regional and international communities are clear evidence that Al-Sudani's government is moving in the right direction. Rather, the statement indicates a clear danger that such targeting threatens security and civil peace."
He added: "Some of the leaders of the framework have become provoked by Al-Sudani's government, and they realize that the continued escalation of government performance could make Al-Sudani's second term within reach, even though the man has not yet declared anything, has not acted on the Euphrates Current offices, and has not monopolized public money as they did in the past in order to achieve electoral space and buy consciences."
Earlier today,  the Iraqi government accused unnamed parties of trying to drag it away from its national approach through what it described as "desperate" attempts, and said that they do not stand up to real and effective legal procedures.
Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi said in a statement received by Baghdad Today, "The government is following up, based on its commitment and legal responsibilities, the misleading campaigns that aim to obstruct its work in various fields, including what was reported of inaccurate information that contains innuendo, and some of which included direct accusations against the government regarding issues that are currently under judicial consideration, as the executive authority awaits what it will issue in this regard, with the government's continued emphasis on commitment to the law and respect for judicial decisions."
He added, "The government stresses the need to continue fighting corruption and all forms of violations of the law, in continuous and close cooperation with the judicial and legislative authorities. It also relies in this regard on the vigilance and awareness of the citizen so that he does not fall victim to those who distort the facts and deliberately mislead public opinion."
Al-Awadi pointed out that, "There are those who are working to drag the government and distract it from its national approach through desperate attempts that do not stand up to the real and actual legal procedures that the government is working to implement and support. The past two years of the government's life have proven the strength of the will in this direction, and the continuous determination to implement reforms and not to be lenient in public rights, no matter the pressures and consequences."
