Today, Monday (September 9, 2024), the Federal Ministerial Council for the Economy and the Kurdistan Regional Economic Council issued a joint statement on the issues discussed and the solutions taken in response.
The statement, a copy of which was received by Baghdad Today, said, "The Ministerial Council for Economy held its twenty-eighth regular session with the Economic Council of the Kurdistan Region in Erbil over two days to discuss a group of issues of common interest between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government."
He stressed that "the atmosphere was positive and frank in addressing these issues, some of which were addressed through immediate decisions taken in the meeting, and others were addressed through recommendations to the Federal Cabinet regarding them, while stressing the continuation of dialogues to address issues that require more meetings and dialogues."
He added, "The Ministerial Council for the Economy recommended to the Federal Council of Ministers to direct the Federal Ministry of Finance to address the salaries of the region's employees who were excluded due to their lack of biometric registration. Issues related to unifying the agricultural calendar, import and export licenses, factory licenses, company registration, contractor classification, border crossings, customs, the oil and energy file, and the banking sector were also discussed."
He continued: "He also recommended the continuation of the work of the joint committees between the ministries and concerned sectors to complete the tasks assigned to them and reach common understandings that benefit all citizens of Iraq. The Council also recommended holding a special session at a high level to discuss the files of oil, energy, border crossings and customs."
He concluded: "The Kurdistan Regional Economic Council was invited to a joint meeting with the Ministerial Council for the Economy in Baghdad."
