    The Ministry of Labor reported that the number of families covered by the social protection network salaries reached two million and 93 thousand families, while 15 thousand beneficiaries out of 37 thousand joined the categories of the Ministry of Interior. 
    The spokesman for the Ministry of Labor, Najm Al-Aqabi, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Iqtisad News”, that the families covered are distributed as follows: 1,535,000 families supported by men, and 588,000 families supported by women, and all of them are covered by the free services provided by the ministry, including health insurance, issuing a unified card, and reducing tuition fees for university students, noting that the ministry is working to adopt a unified record for social protection that is officially approved and includes all data of beneficiaries in Baghdad and the governorates.
    He pointed out that the ministry sent the records of 37,000 beneficiaries between the ages of 18 and 35 to the Ministry of Interior for the purpose of accepting them within its security ranks, as 15,000 of them joined to work on a contract basis for a period of three years, and then they were confirmed on the ministry’s staff, and there are ongoing procedures to accept the remaining numbers, noting that the number of females whose data was transferred to the Ministry of Interior exceeded seven thousand beneficiaries.
    He added that job seekers registered in the Ministry’s database are not covered by the transfer and employment procedures in the Ministry of Interior, and that there are training and loan programmes dedicated to them, noting that other ministries have not taken similar steps to employ or transfer social protection beneficiaries who are of working age within their cadres.
