The Civil Status, Passports and Residence Directorate of the Ministry of Interior announced the launch of a new electronic reservation system for the unified card during the current week.
The Director of the Civil Status, Passports and Residence Directorate, Major General Nashat Al-Khafaji, told the official agency, “The Directorate had previously suspended the electronic reservation system for the unified card in preparation for using a new system that will be implemented this week.”
He added, "The commencement of work was preceded by the preparation of the special requirements and approvals, through which the citizen will be able to apply for a reservation by the day and hour, as he will be given options, and the citizens' commitment to the timings will prevent them from having a rush in the review and will contribute to accelerating the completion of transactions."
Al-Khafaji explained that “the new system allows the citizen and his family to apply for the nearest place of residence regardless of the location of the population registry. For example, if the citizen was born in Mosul and lives in Babylon, he can apply from Babylon to the Mosul population registry.”
He pointed out that "the Directorate is in the process of providing central registration sites, with one center in each governorate in Iraq and two centers in the capital, Baghdad, to facilitate civil status transactions. This will spare citizens the trouble of traveling and moving to the governorates in order to complete transactions."
