The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on the Iraqi parliament to reduce US diplomatic representation in the country as a first step, while stressing the need to boycott Arab and Islamic countries that have established relations with Israel.
Al-Sadr said in a statement: “Israel established its entity on the basis of Jewish religious extremism... and this was forbidden to other religions. It was permitted to displace the people of Palestine with all impudence... and this was prohibited by all laws, customs, and even religious laws.”
He added, "It rejected the decisions of the International Court and humanitarian laws without deterrence. If anyone else had done the same, all hell would have broken loose. It boasts of being the greatest democratic country and the protector of freedom. Yet it suppresses all nationalities, religions, and races and makes them inferior to every hateful Israeli Jew."
He pointed out that it - Israel - "imprisoned thousands in Gaza and deprived them of their most basic rights to a comfortable life with all impudence. If others did the same, they would be an unjust and dictatorial government. They attack countries by bombing and infiltration and interfere in their affairs with blatant international cover. This is forbidden for any other country."
He stressed that it "hosts whoever it wants from the regimes and countries without reproach.. and as soon as one country turns against another, its fate is dark.. so may America's hands be ruined and may it perish.. its wealth and what it has gained will not avail it."
He pointed out that "it is the supporter of all Zionist terrorist acts in Palestine, Lebanon and elsewhere... and from here I call on the (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) and the (Arab League) to take a firm position."
Al-Sadr demanded, “First: criminalizing dealings with Israel... and imposing isolation on any Arab or Islamic country that has normalized or is normalizing its relations with the terrorist Zionist entity.”
He continued, “Second: Neutralizing American interference in our Arab and Islamic countries and neutralizing its embassies... and even trying to sever economic relations with it,” adding, “Third: Unified official Arab Islamic governmental action to issue resolutions from within the United Nations or the Security Council against the terrorist entity.”
Al-Sadr concluded, “Fourth: Regarding the Iraqi issue... I demand that Parliament issue a parliamentary decision, far from violence, to reduce American diplomatic representation as a first stage, even if the Iraqi government does not implement it... The House of Representatives is supposed to represent the Iraqi people... and I am ready to support the decision popularly... and God knows best.”
