[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Director General of the General Authority of Customs, Counselor Hassan Hamoud Al-Akeili, signed today, Thursday, a guarantee agreement with the General Company for Land Transport to be the guarantor of the payment of customs duties and taxes for goods and commodities transiting through Iraqi territory.
A statement by the Customs Authority stated that this step came after the Republic of Iraq joined the International Land Transport Agreement (TIR) of 1975, ratified by Law No. 6 of 2020 and the approval of the Prime Minister to consider the Land Transport Company a national guaranteeing body.
The statement explained that the agreement was signed at the headquarters of the General Authority of Customs in the presence of representatives of the Land Transport Company to be a qualitative leap that comes within the readiness of the two parties to move forward in facilitating transit procedures and to enhance and develop international trade and to represent a kind of readiness for development road works in addition to its positive repercussions on the increase in customs revenues collected to support the state's general treasury. / End9[/rtl]
