    Economy News - Follow-up
The Housing Fund of the Ministry of Construction, Municipalities and Public Works granted about 16,000 loans to eligible citizens this year.
The ministry’s spokesman, Istibraq Sabah, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Eqtisad News”, that “the fund has set controls for granting these loans, including a property deed, model 25, a map of establishing the boundaries of a full block stamped with a rectangular seal by the Real Estate Registration Department, and an original valid building permit with a building map.” He noted that “the loan applicant’s share should not be less than 100 square meters, and the building area of the residential unit should not be less than 65 square meters.”
He explained, “In the event that the property is shared, the loan applicant shall submit an engineering drawing from an authorized office specifying the share of the loan applicant with the approval of the partners. They are not entitled to submit until three years have passed and by adding a building, in addition to the personal documents of the borrower and his wife, the pledge of the guarantor’s department and his personal documents. The borrower must be 18 years old and not exceed 65 years old, and the loan term is 15 years, provided that all documents are submitted on the fund’s website.”
Sabah pointed out that "the loan amount is calculated based on the value of the property and the guarantor's salary, and in the event of adding a building, the required area shall not be less than 65 square meters," noting that "the guarantee of deputy officers affiliated with the Ministry of Defense shall be accepted, provided that the guarantor's department's pledge is validly issued by the accounts department affiliated with the units organizing the pledge and according to the pledge forms approved by the fund." He stressed that "the maximum loan ceiling in Baghdad and the governorates shall be 60 million Iraqi dinars and disbursement shall be in 3 or 2 installments," adding that "the new mechanism for applying for loans will be according to the points of comparison such as the location of the building and its type, whether it is new, reconstructed or added to a building, age, social status, number of children under the age of 18, people with special needs, and previous benefit from the loan for the husband or wife."
