    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Independent MP Ahmed Al-Sharmani confirmed today, Tuesday (October 29, 2024), that there are no guarantees to pass the controversial postponed laws during today's parliament session.
Al-Sharmani told Baghdad Today, "Disagreements are still ongoing between the blocs and political parties regarding the controversial laws, which are (the Personal Status Law, the General Amnesty Law, and the Real Estate Recovery Law), as they face objections from various blocs, including independent representatives and emerging forces."
He added, "The Presidency of the House of Representatives included these laws on the agenda without any guarantees that they will be passed during the session, and there is no political agreement on them yet. It is possible that understandings will be reached at the last minute before the session, and all possibilities are open, and they may be passed according to the one-basket deal if a prior political consensus is reached."
Earlier on Monday (October 28, 2024), the House of Representatives published the schedule for its session to be held today, Tuesday, which will include voting on a number of laws, including the general amnesty law, the personal status law, the service and retirement law for the Popular Mobilization Forces, and a number of other laws.
