Wasit: Distribution of seeds among farmers with a support rate of 70 percent

Wasit Agriculture Directorate has started distributing seeds among farmers as part of the agricultural plan approved for the current year.
Wasit Agriculture Director Arkan Marioush Al-Shammari told Al-Sabah: The agricultural plan for this year, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, covers an area of 415 thousand dunums.
He pointed out that the distribution of seeds among farmers for the current season has begun in Jassan, Al-Aziziyah District, Al-Shihimiyah and the rest of the districts and sub-districts of the governorate, as the allocated quantities amount to 50 kilograms per dunum, while the prices are subsidized by 70 percent.
Al-Shammari explained that the demand for using modern sprinklers for irrigation is not up to the level of ambition, calling on farmers and cultivators to apply to the directorate in order to obtain pivot sprinkler irrigation systems with the aim of reclaiming lands and using modern technologies to eliminate water scarcity and keep pace with the development taking place in the agricultural process.
