{Politics: Al Furat News} The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Mr. Ammar Al Hakim, called for diversifying sources of income in Iraq and not relying on oil export revenues.
A statement from his office, a copy of which was received by {Euphrates News}, stated that Mr. Al-Hakim met, in the presence of the Governor of Wasit and the Chairman of the Provincial Council, the members of the Provincial Council, the heads of administrative units, and the directors of service departments in the province. He explained the value of service work and stressed the institutionalism, calling for “sparing local governments from political conflicts.”
He stressed the "implementation of the principle of decentralization, as it is a strength for Iraq and a guarantee of its unity," noting that "the governorates have the capabilities and expertise to provide the service, and that the people of the governorates are more deserving and know their cities better."
Mr. Al-Hakim called for “granting local governments their constitutional powers and for local governments to take legal steps to regain them.”
He also called for "adopting a single window to present investment opportunities," stressing "setting a time frame for the departments' comments on investment opportunities."
He pointed out that "there is money in the countries of the region looking for investment opportunities in Iraq," stressing "providing an investment culture by supporting and protecting investors."
Mr. Al-Hakim said that "dependence on oil is an economic problem for Iraq, which requires diversifying sources of income, activating the productive sector, and abandoning bureaucracy," stressing "the need to combat corruption."
