    Information / Baghdad..
The leader of the State of Law Coalition, Sheikh Haider Al-Lami, confirmed on Wednesday that the call of the coalition’s head, Nouri Al-Maliki, regarding amending the electoral law and reducing the electoral districts from 85 electoral districts to 25 or 26 electoral districts, was welcomed by most political forces, indicating that the coming days will highlight discussions regarding the call.
Al-Lami said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "The call of the head of the State of Law Coalition to amend the electoral law was not a coincidence, but rather came through discussions and deliberations with many consultants and specialists."
He added that "the call called for reducing the electoral districts by making the governorate a single district for the small governorates and reducing the capital Baghdad to four districts and the rest of the large governorates like Mosul and Basra to two electoral districts. Therefore, the proposed law will reduce the electoral districts from 85 districts to 25 or 26 electoral districts," noting that "Al-Maliki's call was welcomed by most of the political forces and that the coming days will highlight discussions regarding the call."
The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, called during a speech he gave last Monday, which was followed by / Al-Maalouma /, for an agreement to submit a draft of the elections law, and to clarify the elections system, whether it is a single district or multiple districts, and whether there will be early elections?
