State law: Parliament to extend legislative term for a month

Tomorrow Press / Baghdad: MP for the coalition of state law, Muhammad announced the fact that, on Wednesday, the Presidency of the Council of Representatives to extend the current legislative term for a month.

He added that "the legislative term is supposed that he ends up in the first of next May, but the presidency to extend the season, we deputies with the move and most of the blocks also approve the decision to extend the legislative term, because they recognize the importance of completing the work assigned to the MPs and Parliament."
He said the fact that "there is a great seriousness of the House of Representatives and the Presidency to carry out the work assigned to them," he said, adding that "the Presidency has not made a formal decision to extend the legislative season, but it's forthcoming and be voted on perhaps the last day of the current legislative term which is the end of this April ".
The Iraqi constitution stipulates that the House of Representatives of the cycle of annual two legislative running for eight months, the rules of procedure determines how they shall be held, and the season may be extended legislative session of the Council of Representatives shall not exceed thirty days, to accomplish the tasks that require this, at the request of the President of the Republic, or the Prime Minister or the President of the House of Representatives, or fifty members of the Council members.
