UN describes postponing Anbar, Nineveh’s local elections as harmful for Iraq’s unity, say MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) -MP Ali al-Timimi, of the Ahrar bloc within the Sadr Trend stressed that “The United Nations refuses postponing the local elections in Anbar and Nineveh, considering this decision illegal and harmful for Iraq’s unity.”
Timimi added in a statement received by IraqiNews.com on Thursday “The decision of postponing the local elections in some provinces will lead Iraq towards sectarianism and split,” noting “The UN’s refusal for this resolution came after the visit of the Deputy UNSG’s Special Representative for Iraq, George Posten, to the Ahrar bloc and giving them a document which asserted that.”
