The Minister of Water Resources Hassan al-Janabi, said the ministry would not be able to develop the water and agriculture sector in Iraq are not allocated 5% of the 2017 budget of the ministry, pointing out that that figure is the lowest rate for the allocation of funds.
He said al-Janabi's (Journal News) today, said that "the budget of the ministry for 2016 is considered by (0%), stressing that the government did not allocate any funds for the purpose of developing water and dam projects and the fight against desertification to increase crop yields in the country."
He added that he "can not develop the water sector in Iraq without the allocation of funds," adding that "the less financial ratio must be allocated water resources during the 2017 budget must not be less than 5% of the new budget."
He continued that "2016 is the year-old Java Mtsahra," pointing out that "desertification comes through the lack of water and agricultural crops, stressing that the ministry is seeking to reduce the desertification in the coming period after the availability of financial allocations."
