(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The Syrian Democratic Forces announced on Monday, that a number of ground troops belonging to the US-led coalition will participate in the battle to retake the Syrian city of Raqqa, the stronghold of the self-proclaimed Islamic state in Syria.

Command of operation ‘Euphrates Anger’ to retake the city of Raqqa said in a press statement, “Our forces managed to kill 167 terrorists and detonate 12 booby-trapped vehicles belonging to the ISIS before reaching its targets, as well as dismantling 240 improvised explosive devices since the start of battle to liberate the city of Raqqa.”
“The US-led international coalition is providing air and ground support, in addition to training our forces, in order to eliminate our common enemy, ISIS,” the statement added. “Military troops belonging to the US-led coalition, including British soldiers, are participating in the ground battles to retake Raqqa,” the statement explained.
The command also revealed, “Rumors about targeting civilians in Raqqa are untrue; the people of Raqqa are seeking liberation and we vow to liberate their city soon.”
