Newt Gingrich and Kellyanne Conway bash ‘pathetic’ Mitt Romney

Sunday morning on Twitter, Fox News Correspondent Ed Henry quoted Newt Gingrich on his thoughts about Mitt Romney as a possible contender for secretary of state. More to the point, Gingrich was responding to the idea that has been floated around of late that Romney needed to apologize to President-elect Donald Trump if he wanted the job:

.@newtgingrich on potential @MittRomney apology -- "there is nothing Romney can say that doesn't sound phony or frankly pathetic" @ffweekend

Perhaps Romney was unwilling to offer his apologies to Trump because following Gingrich’s harsh words, Trump’s Senior Adviser Kellyanne Conway was quoted in a piece in Politico as having “personal concerns” about Romney’s ability to perform as the nation’s chief bureaucrat. In wondering if he had done anything deserving of the job, Conway was quoted as saying on Twitter that she had a “deluge” of messages from Trump loyalists concerned about the potential Romney pick.
    From Politico:
Conway’s comments continued the public bashing of Romney that has been playing out, with top surrogates like Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich also going after the former Massachusetts governor. The spectacle has made it less likely that Romney will land at Foggy Bottom come January.
“I’m all for party unity, but I’m not sure that we have to pay for that with the Secretary of State position,” Conway said. “We don’t even know if Mitt Romney voted for Donald Trump.”
