    The special United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), in a statement, received a (long-Presse) a copy of it, that "the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Iraq, organized the day, the Dutch Iraqi Business Dairy in Baghdad forum, in cooperation with the Representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ( FAO) FAO, under the banner of the Kingdom of the Netherlands secured the ability of the agricultural sector in Iraq, under the auspices of the acting Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Iraq, Jan van Win, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Hussein Ali Al-Saud, and a representative of FAO in the Republic of Iraq, Fadhil Al Zoubi ,. with the participation of the private sector of the dairy producers. "

    Mission quoted Zoubi as saying in his speech, he said that "Iraq's agriculture sector plays an important role in economic and social life where the 7-8 percent of the total value of domestic production is also working in the agricultural sector is about one-third of Iraq's population and is therefore a source of living around (11 - 10) million of the population since 2009, "noting that" recent estimates by the Ministry of Agriculture showed a clear decline in the number of cows, which led to a decline in milk production and a negative impact in the milk and dairy products industry as a result of the cessation of subsidies to producers of milk on the one hand and deterioration of productivity on the other hand. "

    The representative of the FAO, that "the dairy sector in Iraq depends on imports from abroad about a large, covering imports more than 90 percent of the needs of the local demand, while domestic production does not cover the remaining less than 10 percent."

    For his part, animal production and dairy expert at the FAO Representation, Mohammed Hilal, in his speech, "The livestock is one of the economic pillars of the foundation in the agricultural sector, and most existing varieties in Iraq cows, based on the latest survey of livestock in Iraq, which was implemented in 2008 and 2009 by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Central Bureau of Statistics / planning in cooperation with the food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Ministry of Agriculture, and funded by the Iraq Trust Fund, pointed out that in Iraq 2,000,551 thousand and 113, a cow, "noting that" the current situation in Iraq in general and state institutions in particular, indicates to the possibility of an interim reforms and achieve the rates of evolution in production and productivity through the development of a medium-term plan for the two-stage (4-5 years), depending on what is available from the factors of production. "
    The UN Mission reported that "the business of dairy producers discussed the business opportunities for the dairy sector in Iraq, challenges and solutions to problems, and the experience of the private sector in both Iraq and the Netherlands."

"
     The ceremony was attended by representatives of ministries and embassies, national and international organizations, universities and the private sector of the dairy producers in Baghdad.
    The livestock in Iraq has deteriorated by about large, as a result of several factors, including the reluctance of a large sector of educators to continue their work because of the difficulties they face, which led to a decline in the proliferation of animals and decrease its products, due to poor grazing conditions and lack of fodder provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as diseases and deterioration of security, and foreign competition.
