US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursday announced the cancellation of the planned summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The US Secretary of State said the lack of a "successful outcome" was the reason for the cancellation of the summit.
"I do not think we are in a position that makes us feel that the outcome can be successful," Pompeo told Congress in the past several days.
US President Donald Trump on Thursday canceled a June 12 summit in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, in a speech to the White House.
"I was very looking forward to being there with you, unfortunately, because of the outrage and the outrageous hostility that your recent statements have implied," Trump said in the letter. "I feel it is inappropriate at this time to hold this meeting that we have planned for a long time."
