The parliamentary energy committee strongly criticized the performance of the ministries of oil and electricity and blamed them for failing to provide energy to citizens.

"The exchange of accusations between the ministries of electricity and oil, one of which is responsible for the deterioration of electricity on the other, means the approval of the two ministries failed to resolve the crisis that has been going on for several years," said committee member Zahir al-Abadi.

He said: "The two ministers meet periodically within the Energy Committee, which includes a number of ministries, but they are about the same problems, without a solution."

A member of the Energy Committee: "Iraq has spent about 40 billion dollars on electricity reform since 2003, and there is still a shortage of 5 thousand megawatts so far."
