    The United States, Britain, Germany, France, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia have called on the United Nations to draft a new Syrian constitution as soon as possible.
    "We urge the United Nations and the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Syria (Stephane de Mistura) to call for a credible constitutional committee as soon as all parties participate in drafting the new Syrian constitution," the foreign ministers of the seven countries said in a joint statement released Thursday. And in preparation for the organization of free and fair elections under the auspices of the United Nations in safe and neutral conditions involving all Syrians who are entitled to vote, including expatriates. "
    The statement asked de Mistura to present a report on "progress made" in Syria to the UN Security Council before October 31.
