The escape of the Saudi consul in Istanbul before inspecting his home
Turkish media said on Tuesday evening that "the Saudi consul Mohammed al-Otaibi left Istanbul to Riyadh."
"The Saudi consul returned to his country on a scheduled flight from Ataturk airport at 5 pm after finding evidence of the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi after Turkish investigation teams entered the Saudi consulate and inspected it on Monday night," the newspaper said.
The newspaper said that "according to private information obtained, the consul used the Saudi during the departure of the airport director (VIP), dedicated to diplomatic missions," noting that "Otaibi has not left his home since the disappearance of Khashoggi on 2 October."
Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Zhaoshoglu earlier said there were no restrictions on officials leaving Saudi diplomatic missions to Turkey.
