The riches of the richest 26 people in the world equate wealth and property to 3.8 billion people

At a time when the wealth of billionaires around the world is growing at more than $ 2.5 billion a day, the net income of half of the world's poorest people is shrinking and shrinking.
According to a report by Oxfam International, published on Monday, the billionaires, now at a record high of 2.208 billionaires, have more wealth than ever before. Since the global financial crisis a decade ago, the number of billionaires has almost doubled around the world.
The annual report comes ahead of the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which brings together the most affluent and influential people on earth.
The 106-page report aims to draw attention to the growing gap between rich and poor.
According to the report, the wealth of the richest 26 people in the world amounted to 1.4 trillion dollars last year 2018, equivalent to the property and wealth of 3.8 billion people the world's poorest.
Most of these are wealthy Americans, according to Forbes' list of Oxfam-based billionaires. Among the wealthy are Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Bill Gates of Microsoft, Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, whose total wealth is $ 357 billion, according to Forbes.
Oxfam recommends that countries impose a fairer tax, raise personal income and taxes on corporations and the rich.
The organization calls for free health care, education and other public services, while ensuring that women and girls also benefit from these services.
"There will be broad public debate in the United States and around the world about what a fair and effective tax system would be, which would be different from current tax regimes," said Paul O'Brien, vice president of policy at Oxfam, America.
