Direct US lawmakers said they had reached a tentative agreement that could help them avoid partial government closures at the end of the week.
The next Friday is the deadline for US President Donald Trump and lawmakers in Congress to reach a budget agreement or the government will face a new partial closure.
The initial agreement was reached after intense hours of closed-door negotiations at the Capitol building, where lawmakers revived the talks, which fell over the weekend as a result of the dispute over new democratic demands to curb immigration detention.
In the end, the Democrats retreated from some of those demands that were criticized by the Republicans in preparation for an agreement.
Senate House Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby on Monday and the Republican Party representative said that what made them return to meet together was their desire that the closure should not be repeated again, the Washington Post reported.
House Democrat Committee Chairman Nita Lowe said she hoped the negotiators could finalize by Wednesday.
"Some will be happy and the other will not, we have done the best we can do," she said.
The United States has suffered the longest closure of the government in its history, with Trump retaining funding for the construction of the separation wall and the rejection of members of Congress.
