    The General Authority of Customs in the context of the response to what was reported by some media and social networking sites on suspicions about the balance of the civil port of Shib border, that the contract came in accordance with the legal procedures followed in the conclusion of government contracts.

    The Authority explained in a statement to Ashfaq News that "the balance is considered a basic part of its work and that the customs management discretionary power in the report of the work of the customs centers based on the results of the balance in determining the fees to be met by weight and otherwise the demarcation will be discretionary and inaccurate, causing a waste of money General ".

    The body indicated that "the balance of the border in the port of Shaib was in 2010 on the basis of a contract concluded by the Council of Maysan with the owner of the balance and for a period of three years and could not be renewed after the end of the period as a curious contract concluded by the Council which is not competent, and that the owner of the balance made several requests To the General Authority for Customs, in which he requested to contract with him because there is a need to continue his work supported by the management of the border port and the customs center in Al-Shaib port with official books, but the Commission did not respond to his requests and did not take any action to contract.

    She added that "the contract concluded by the Commission later in July 2013 was concluded on the approval of the former Minister of Finance on the request of the owner of the balance presented to the Minister directly and was based on the opinion of the Legal Department to follow the method of tender only and conditions set by the General Authority for Customs" Legal "status.

    She stressed that "the raising of such a topic came after the start of a campaign to combat corruption and the organization of customs procedures and prevent the work of unauthorized persons and the abolition of companies violating the laws and increased its benefits after the abolition of the three customs points and confirmed that the Commission is moving forward in the implementation of projects to the end.

    At the end of its statement, the Commission called on all Iraqi media to be accurate, objective, verifying the authenticity of the news and to rely on reliable sources before transmitting the news.
