Conducted by experts from "Strengthening defense education" program at NATO headquarters ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ), and others from professional defense education institutions in allied countries, the week - long visit to the University of Defense Military Studies in Baghdad.
According to the British Defense Journal, the experts met with representatives of the Training Directorate of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, the Presidency of the Defense University for Military Studies, the National Defense College, the Military College, the Defense of Languages Institute, the College of Staff, the College of Command and the Military College and the Center for Strategic Studies and Research.
"This visit came in support of NATO's commitment to Iraq to provide assistance for further development of Iraq's military education institutions as part of broader efforts to reform national security structures," the magazine quoted one expert as saying.
"The first phase of the program to strengthen the defense education of Iraq, focuses on three institutes under the umbrella of the University of Defense for Military Studies, the Military College, the National Defense College and the Defense Institute of Languages," noting that: "The team discussed during the visit with these agencies plans to upgrade Academic development and the development of trainers and institutional capacities, and will now work on the completion of an evaluation report and then take further steps in close cooperation with the presidency of the University of Defense. "
