Hatami: Iran's military support for Iraq is a long-term strategy
Iranian Defense Minister Yassin Taher al-Yassiri said Sunday that there are various issues at the same time in the security relations between the two countries that require both sides to hold continuous talks with each other because the Iraqi Interior Ministry is a security institution and plays an important role in ensuring The security and stability of Iraq and thus the security of the region.
Brigadier General Amir Hatami said that the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Iraqi government and people throughout the attack of terrorist groups on Iraq, was not a short-term and tactical step but stemmed from a long-term strategy.
For his part, the Iraqi Interior Minister expressed his thanks for the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq in the fight against terrorist groups, noting that military and security cooperation between the two countries is one of the main priorities of the Iraqi government.
He pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the first country to stand by the Iraqi people in its war against ISIS, pointing out that the common interests require that the two countries strengthen their relations at various levels.
