    BAGHDAD (Reuters) - 
    Explosions in Iraq may have been caused by the harsh summer heat, not by Israeli air strikes, which caused some explosions, US officials said on Saturday. 
    The statements by US officials follow a series of mysterious bombings at the base of the Popular Mobilization factions in recent weeks. 
    Officials in the administration of US President Donald Trump told Bloomberg that Washington has no confirmed information that Israel is responsible for all attacks against the Hashd weapons depots. 
    "Iran is the real reason for this situation because it provides Iraqi factions with weapons they cannot control, putting the security of the world at risk," the officials said. 
    The New York Times reported on Thursday that Israel had launched at least one strike on a weapons depot in Iraq.
    The newspaper quoted a senior Middle East intelligence official that Israel bombed a base in northern Baghdad last July, while two US officials said that Israel has launched several strikes in Iraq in recent days. 
    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday evening that "Iran is trying to establish bases against us in Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. He acted and ordered the security forces to thwart Iran's plans, ”the remarks came in an interview with Israel's Channel 9.
