The parliamentary education committee confirmed on Wednesday that it will submit a group of names of candidates for the post of Minister of Education to Prime Minister [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] , indicating that the political blocs could not resolve this issue, prompting to open the door to run for this position and submit names to Abdul Mahdi.
The chairman of the committee, Qusai al-Yasiri, in a statement to the information, that "the talks are almost stalled on the selection of a figure for the post of Minister of Education, where there are no discussions between the blocks in addition to not providing any names to fill this position."
He added that "the Parliamentary Education Committee met with the Prime Minister and asked him the absence of any candidates by the political blocs for the post of Minister of Education."
He explained that "the Parliamentary Education Committee can not stand idly by not to resolve the post of Minister of Education, and worked to submit a letter to the Prime Minister, including the readiness of the Education Committee to provide a candidate with scientific competence and educational experience in case the government and the blocs are unable to submit candidates."
He pointed out that "Abdul-Mahdi explained that he was ready to receive the candidates of the Parliamentary Education Committee, as a result of which a meeting of the Committee was held during which he announced the readiness of the Committee to receive the names of candidates for the post of the said minister, within the conditions and controls set for this purpose."
He stressed that "the names of the candidates will be submitted to the Prime Minister in the next few days," pointing out that "objections expected from the political blocs on some of the candidates, but the Commission on Education must have a role because of the non-resolution of the issue."
