BEIJING (Reuters) - China's three mobile operators on Friday launched their new 5G services across the world's largest network.
The three companies, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, will start service on Nov. 1 at prices ranging from 128 yuan ($ 18) to 599 yuan per month, according to Xinhua.
The new commercial services will be available to Chinese consumers in 50 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
More than 130,000 5G stations are expected to be operational in China by the end of this year to provide wider coverage and better support for the 5G network, according to a government statement.
The Chinese network was supposed to start operating by next year, but operators managed to launch the network in 2019.
Huawei has played a prominent role in the launch of the fifth generation network in China, according to local press reports.
Huawei provided operators with a large proportion of tools and equipment required to operate the network, note that the operators cooperated at the same time with other companies to build the network such as Ericsson and Nokia.
Earlier this year, the United States, Britain and South Korea have already launched 5G connectivity services, but the Chinese network excels as the world's largest.
Analysts expect China's 5G services to reach 110 million in 2020, as China currently has the largest mobile Internet user base of 850 million, according to Xinhua.
