Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Oil clarified the stages of seismic survey operations to explore wells, while confirming the completion of 60 percent of the Haifa exploration program in Anbar, and setting the date for its completion.
The Associate Director of the Oil Exploration Company for technical affairs, Osama Raouf Hussein, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The field of work of the Oil Exploration Company includes all regions of Iraq, especially Anbar Governorate and the Western Desert, which the company pays special attention to because the region is promising with gas and falls within the government program that Prepared by the Council of Ministers to invest gas in the region.
Raouf added, "The company has multiple programs in the Anbar desert, and (Haifa) is one of these programs, as it consists of two seismic divisions, the second and sixth, which have completed nearly 60 percent of the program, and we hope that the program will finish its work at the end of this year." Pointing out that "seismic survey operations consist of several stages, the first of which is the exploration of oil and gas reservoirs, followed by the stage of seismic data transmission and acquisition, then the processing stage, then the interpretation stage, and the last culminates in locating exploratory wells in terms of whether they are oil or gas wells, and most of these gaseous regions.
He continued, "The fruit of these surveys and their results will culminate in digging exploratory wells that will increase the country's productive capacity of oil and gas, increase their reserves, supply electric power stations with the necessary fuel, and reduce the country's need for foreign imports."
For his part, Amer Sabih Hussein, a worker in the second seismic division, explained, "The teams began working on the two-dimensional Haifa project, located within the Rutba district in Anbar Governorate, in early November of 2021, and are still continuing to implement it within the monthly plan assigned to them."
And he stated, "The number of project points is 250 and more than 93 receiving stations, and its total area is 2,860 km in length. The band has completed nearly 75% of the total project size, and the remainder will be completed during the next four months, then the band will move to another project within The five-year plan for the oil exploration company.
