    Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Thursday (July 20, 2023), an official source in the Kurdistan Regional Government revealed that a high-level delegation from the US Ministries of Defense and State will visit the Kurdistan Region next week, while pointing out that the delegation will give an ultimatum to the ruling parties in order to solve the problems of the Peshmerga forces and unify them.
The official source told "Baghdad Today": "American pressure has begun to increase on the regional government recently," and a high-level delegation from the US Defense and State Department will arrive in Kurdistan next week to discuss and address the problems of not unifying the Peshmerga forces so far.
According to the source, "The commander of the international coalition forces, Matthew Markfarlan, told the region's president, Nechirvan Barzani, in his meeting with him yesterday that his country will stop military and logistical support for the Peshmerga in the event that its ranks are not found and the current problems continue."
It is worth noting that the Kurdistan region has actually started the steps of unifying the Peshmerga forces, separating them from the partisan leadership, and placing them under the command of the Ministry of Peshmerga, after it merged several joint brigades from the 70 forces of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the 80 forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, but many military brigades are still operating under Partisan directives away from government military orders.
