Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said during a press interview with The National newspaper that there is a war on corruption, indicating that the recovery of funds and wanted persons is proceeding according to a systematic anti-corruption policy.
Al-Sudani’s speech opens the file for the recovery of wanted persons, especially those accused of plundering public funds and murder in the previous government, while a member of the State of Law coalition, Saad Al-Muttalabi, said that Al-Kadhimi moves between countries and it is not known whether he is present or settled in a specific country, pointing out that the Iraqi judiciary has issued a recruitment warrant. Against this character regarding a case related to murder.
Al-Muttalabi said, “Former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has been issued a summons order by the Iraqi judiciary in a case related to the killing of two people, and the case has been referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to bring him from abroad.”
He added, “The issue of bringing Al-Kadhimi to Iraq was rejected by him on the pretext that he is a British citizen because he possesses British citizenship, and therefore the recruitment warrant is now with the British embassy.”
He stated that “Al-Kadhimi moves between more than one country, and there is no confirmed information about his presence in a specific country in order to be brought in and placed before the Iraqi judiciary regarding the murder case brought against him.”
However, turning the file of recovering wanted corrupt persons into a priority in the government’s concerns will push towards the recovery of all wanted persons, as the government is working to intensify efforts with the countries concerned to recover these wanted persons and bring them to justice.
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced significant progress in the file of recovering wanted corrupt persons, as it was agreed with a number of countries to hand over a number of wanted persons.
The list of wanted corrupt individuals includes a number of prominent officials and figures in Iraq, accused of financial and administrative corruption.
