Member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiyath Al-Sourji, confirmed on Monday that the political disputes between Baghdad and Erbil have negatively affected the salary file for the region’s employees, pointing out that the situation of the employees is not likely to be linked to the political differences between the two governments, as they are employees like the rest of the governorate’s employees.

Al-Sourji told Al-Maalouma, “There is an urgent need to keep employee salaries away from the political disputes between Baghdad and Erbil, and to ensure that this segment is not held responsible for the political problems between the two parties.”
He added, "Employees and retirees in the region are Iraqis who must be equal to their peers in other provinces, by keeping their salaries separate from the political aspects between the center and the region."
He stated that "there are political parties implementing certain agendas in order to ensure that the existing problems between the governments of the center and the region are not resolved, and thus the employee salaries crisis continues and is not resolved, at a time when the region's employees need governmental solutions that guarantee their wages."
