Agriculture was not just choosing fertile land and specifying a crop to invest in it, but rather the issue is related to the application of biotechnology and development procedures taking place in this broad sector and dealing with it in a way that increases its productivity and improves the quality of its crops, and in various circumstances, because this matter extends to the application of all Initiatives to improve the agricultural environment and expand its contribution to supporting the national economy with promising development factors.
In light of the climatic challenges that Iraq suffers from, especially the high temperatures most days of the year, and the water crisis and scarcity in large areas of our governorates known for their agricultural production, it has become necessary to implement government initiatives that aim to improve the production of agricultural crops in the areas targeted for agriculture, including measures Governmental support represented in finalizing the file of farmers’ dues for the current year and completing them according to the full distribution of bonds among all of them in the governorates with abundant productivity in the agricultural sector, according to what was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, which had previously provided drip irrigation sprinklers and distributed them among farmers in installments and at subsidized prices, as well as implementing air campaigns. To control pests, with the distribution of pesticides specific to this process.
These measures confirm the keenness of the Ministry of Agriculture, as a competent governmental body, to increase the volume of benefit from the revenues of this sector and its positive repercussions on other economic sectors such as industry and trade, whether internal or external, transportation, and all operations related to providing and increasing additional job opportunities. They also clearly confirm that our country is currently witnessing changes. A fundamental economic development that would give a greater role to the private sector, by providing modern agricultural mechanization methods for the purpose of selling them to owners of various agricultural projects, which contribute to supporting the process of economic development and creating a suitable environment for work, investment, and comprehensive and ambitious development

Here, it is necessary to emphasize the necessity of establishing a partnership between the government agencies concerned with this sector on the one hand, and the farmers on the other hand, and through their proper dealing with the procedures of the Ministry of Agriculture and the support it provides to them, which is the complete distribution of the entitlements among their owners, and the necessity of placing them in their correct position. And buy what they need of modern agricultural supplies, such as drip irrigation sprinklers, good quality fertilizers, and prevention and control materials for pests that destroy various crops, and stay away from some previous practices, such as using that money to buy homes or private cars, or entering into projects that have nothing to do with agriculture, This issue was another problem facing this sector when many farmers were complaining about the lack of government support for them. The matter has become different now, especially since the previous data showed, in many of its indicators, in a tangible way, self-sufficiency in wheat and barley crops, and it is possible to achieve self-sufficiency in crops. Vegetable crops and some fruits, of which Iraq still imports large quantities every year.
