    An informed source confirmed today, Tuesday (January 30, 2024), that Baghdad will host an important meeting at the end of the week to put the final touches on the formation of the Diyala government.
    The source told "Baghdad Today", "After the 15 members of the Diyala Council took the legal oath in the Court of Appeal in Baqubah, the way has become clear to proceed with the settlement of the latest entitlements, including the nomination of candidates for the positions of governor and his deputies, the presidency of the council, and the rest of the other positions."
    He added, "Next Thursday, Baghdad will host a meeting representing 5 important parties, including the coordination framework to put the final touches on the formation of the Diyala local government and the presidency of the council through the distribution of positions according to entitlements," pointing out that "the meeting will be decisive in determining the compass of who participates in the formation or resorts to it." "For the opposition."
    He pointed out that "all indications lead to the fact that the framework will obtain the position of governor in all cases, unless the equation changes according to new consensuses, and this matter is difficult, but not impossible."

    Yesterday, Sunday, the new members of the Diyala Governorate Council took the legal oath before the President of the Court of Appeal. 
    The "Baghdad Today" correspondent said, "The winning members of the Diyala Provincial Council took the oath before the Chief of Appeals of the Diyala Court, Judge Hussein Al-Zuhairi."
    On (January 22, 2024), the Supreme Judicial Council directed the heads of the courts of appeal to receive the election winners to take the legal oath. 
    The judiciary media stated in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that “the Supreme Judicial Council held its first session at eight o’clock in the morning on Monday, 1/22/2024, headed by the President of the Federal Court of Cassation, Judge Faiq Zaidan, and approved the promotion of a number of judges and members of the public prosecution and granted Judicial positions that require approval of the formations in some presidencies of appeal according to the proposal submitted by the presidency of appeals. 
    He added, "On the occasion of the announcement by the Independent High Electoral Commission to ratify the final results of the irregular provincial council elections in a region, the Council directed the presidents of the courts of appeal to receive the winners to take the legal oath before the president of the appeals exclusively at the headquarters of the presidencies of the courts of appeals. However, in Baghdad, the oath-taking ceremonies will take place at the headquarters of the presidencies of the court of appeals." Baghdad/Al-Karkh, in accordance with the provisions of Article No. (29) of the Law of Governorates Not Organized in a Region No. (21) of 2008.”
