Member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Kazem Al-Touki, confirmed today, Sunday, that the approval of the oil and gas law has been stalled due to the high ceiling of claims of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Al-Touki told Al-Maalouma, “The high ceiling of the region’s demands has hindered the approval of the oil and gas law in the House of Representatives, as some technical points have turned into political points.”
He added, "The regional government is obligated to sit at the dialogue table to legislate the oil and gas law, as it is one of the important laws."
He continued, "The Oil Law aims to regulate the relationship and operations of extracting oil and gas in Iraq, as well as the financial relationship with regard to the dealings of regions and governorates not affiliated with the central government." Ended / 25 H
