The index is based on recording 13 indicators of the status of women, classified into three dimensions: inclusion (economic, social, political); justice (formal and informal discrimination); and security (at the individual and societal levels).

The range of scores on the Women, Peace and Security Index is wide among countries, with Denmark ranking highest on the index with a score of (0.932), while Afghanistan ranks lowest on the list with a score of (0.286).

On the Arab level, the UAE ranked first with a score of (0.868), followed by Bahrain (0.752), then Kuwait (0.742), while Somalia (0.417), then Syria (0.407), and Yemen (0.287) occupied the lowest scores on the list among the Arab countries.

As for Iraq, it ranked 19th in the Arab world and 168th in the world in the Women, Peace and Security Index for the year 2023/24, with a score of 0.424.
