We’ll continue to Jekyll and Hyde themed season with a good news, bad new blog.
Good news – The Blues ended their five game losing streak. Bad news – The win was against the easiest opponent in the NHL, a team that has 16 points less than the Coyotes.

Good news – The win propelled the Blues back into a playoff position. Bad news – Tonight’s game in Minnesota will be a lot tougher and the Blues could lose their game in hand over the Kings without padding their one point lead. The Wild are 6-2 in their last 8 home games.

Good news- Paul Stastny has 5 goals and 3 assists in his last 10 games. Bad news – Patrik Berglund has cooled off with only 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 8 games.

Good news – Vladimir Tarasenko has 14 points in 17 games versus the Wild. Bad news – David Perron and Jori Lehtera have 1 goal in their last 21 games, Jaden Schwartz 1 in his last 18 and Alexander Steen 1 in his last 10.

Good news - Both goalies have posted decent numbers against the Wild with save percentages over 91%. Bad news – The Wild have the 8th best home save percentage in the NHL.

Good news – The Blues are no longer in last place in road save percentage. Bad news – They still are only 21st.

Good news – The Blues have a better power play this season than the Wild (4th vs 5th). Bad news – The Wild have a better penalty kill (7th vs 8th).

Coach Mike Yeo is mixing the lineup again even after a 3-0 win. Look for the lines to start out like this tonight:
    Schwartz – Stastny – Tarasenko
    Steen – Berglund - Perron
    Jaskin – Lehtera – Paajarvi
    Upshall – Brodziak – Reaves
    Bouwmeester – Pietrangelo
    Edmundson – Parayko
    Gunnarsson – Bortuzzo
    Allen

    Nine NHL Nuggets
    1) The Blues are 3rd worst in shots per game.
    2) The Wild are in the top 4 in both goals per game and goals against per game.
    3) Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin lead the league in points per game (minimum 20 games)
    4) Patrik Laine continues to lead Auston Matthews in goals and points even though he has played 5 games less though Matthews does have an extra game winning goal.
    5) No disrespect to Sergei Bobrovsky but Devan Dubnyk and Braden Holtby have to be the favorites for the Vezina so far this season.
    6) Holtby has a ridiculous 8 shutouts this season. Budaj is 2nd with 7.
    7) Jake Allen still isn’t in the top 30 in save percentage for goalies with 25 games.
    8) Since February 1st, 3 of the top 5 Blues in score and venue adjusted relative corsi are not currently on the roster (Shattenkirk, Agostino and Megan).
    9) In the same time, the Blues worst forward at expected goals against is Alexander Steen, 20% worse than Patrik Berglund who is next worst.

It’s a great day for hockey.

Fellow Hockeybuzz bloggers Nashville Predator's Paul McCannWinnipeg Jet's Peter Tessier and Minnesota Wild's Dan Wallace have generously agreed to a friendly charity wager. We were hoping to do the whole division but don't have it fully represented yet. The blogger whose team finishes the highest the standings at the end of the year gets to pick a charity to whom the others donate in their name.
