    [ltr]Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of the Women’s Affairs, Ebtihal al-Zaidi, welcomed the decision of the Council of Ministers over considering the first day of Safar Hijri month as an Islamic Day to confront Violence against women.[/ltr]
    [ltr]She stated in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com “Considering the first day of Safar Hijri month as an Islamic Day to confront Violence against women is to assure the principles of Islam over not exploiting and discriminating the human beings regardless their gender.”[/ltr]
    [ltr]“There are many traditions that are not related to any religion, but considered as being religious where women are being exploited and discriminated in many fields of the life,” she added.[/ltr]
    [ltr]“The activities and the conference that are being held can help in clarifying to the society that those traditions are against Islam,” she concluded.[/ltr]
