UN calls on Iran for "immediate cessation" of the execution of minors

invited the United Nations, the Iranian authorities to immediately stop the implementation of the death sentences of at least 90 people under 18 years old.
A statement issued by the United Nations on Friday, "should be an immediate moratorium on executions resolutions issued against persons under the age of 18 in Iran against the background of crimes, and Iran must comply with international human rights standards."
The statement pointed out that at least 90 people (aged less than 18 years) were awaiting death sentences issued against them, and it is expected to be a number greater than 90.
The United Nations has expressed its concern about the high numbers of children convicted of death sentences in Iran.
The statement emphasized that the issuance of the death sentence against girls over the age of 9 years, and males aged over 15 years, as mature, is a violation of the rights of the child.
The statement did not elaborate further details on the convicted cases in which these, while not immediately available for comment from the Iranian authorities.
Iran and occupies an advanced rank in the number of executions in the world; which cast heavy criticism from international human rights organizations.
