Emanuel McCron, the leader of the "forward" movement in the second round of the French presidential election, won 65.5%, beating a far-right rival, Marie Le Pen.
Macaron, 39, who will succeed François Hollande, the youngest resident of the Elysee Palace, has been living since the founding of the French republic 170 years ago and the eighth president of the Fifth Republic, founded by Charles de Gaulle in 1958.
French President-elect Emmanuel Macaron announced on Sunday that his election victory was a great honor and a great responsibility, thanking the French for giving him their confidence.
"France will be at the forefront of the fight against terrorism," McCron said in a speech from his campaign headquarters in Paris.
"I will work to protect France's vital interests and mission and defend the unity of Europe's destiny," he said, pointing out that he will address the divisions that France is experiencing. McCron confirmed that he was aware of the "anger, anxiety and doubts" of the French. "We have inherited a great history and an important humanitarian message for the whole world."
On Sunday morning, French voters cast their ballots in the second and final round of elections that ended the new president's term, which will lead the country for five years to come.
More than 47 million French voters cast ballots in some 66,456 polling stations nationwide to choose a successor to outgoing President Francois Hollande. The vote was 65 percent, the French interior ministry said.
Born in 1977, he graduated from the National School of Management in 2004. Macron became a financial inspector before starting in 2008 as an investment banker at Rothschild & Co..
He joined the Socialist Party in 2006 and 2009 and was appointed Deputy Secretary-General of the French Presidency to the outgoing President Francois Hollande in 2012 and then Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Economy in the second government of Manuel Valles until 2016.
In April 2016, he founded the centrist "Forward" party, and on 16 November of the same year announced his candidacy for the French presidential election of 2017, which he won.

The two candidates voted in northern France, Emmanuel Makron in the resort of Tocque, and Marin
Le Pen, 48, in her labor camp, Inan-Beaumont.
Hollande voted in his stronghold in the southwestern city of Tulle, and local media reported that Holland had arrived at the polling station in the city, the capital of the province of Correze, before making a statement to the media.
"The vote is always very important, expressive and heavy, and these are the reasons why we should vote," Hollande said before voting in front of a large number of journalists.
Macaron led the race in the first round of elections, which took place on 23 April, with 24.01%, followed by Le Pen with 21.30% of the vote.
