assured the Municipality of Baghdad , the people of the capital , securing sufficient quantities of safe drinking water, after the elimination of the phenomenon of scarcity in most areas after the launch of a series of productive projects.
Media Department Director of Water Baghdad, Mustafa al - Rubaie said in an exclusive interview with «morning», that GAM recently developed a quick plan in order to address the scarcity of safe drinking water within the 14 municipalities circuit breakers, which included the launch of the Rusafa water giant project 910 thousand cubic meters , which feeds Rusafa and parts of the Karkh side, as well as the establishment of complexes: municipalities and Kadhimiya holy Qadisiyah capacity of 220 thousand cubic meters per day for each.
He said the closure of the Secretariat to file potable water shortage in the capital reached after the citizen 's share of net water 400 cubic liters per day, especially as the summer is witnessing a doubling in the use of quantities produced water, as a result of rising temperatures.
Rubaie noted to limit the work of his department, in coordination with municipal departments, the maintenance and renovation of networks, revealing the completion of the renovation and replacement of 90 percent of the total capital networks, explaining affairs of the same measures had been taken and misgivings to face the prospect of increased demand for the amount of water in the summer, most notably the replacement of the main pipeline carrying water in a number of residential shops beside Karkh and Rusafa, feeding refurbished networks and the establishment of strengthening ties to achieve the required increase in the water pressure in order to achieve justice in the distribution of water areas and neighborhoods of the capital. He went on that other procedures included the implementation of campaigns to remove excesses on the pipeline key, calling on citizens to the need to rationalize consumption , especially after it showed another statistic that is wasted 1.25 million cubic meters per day, equivalent to one - third of the total amount produced and the amount of nearly four million cubic meters per day .
