Parliament Speaker Announces Cancellation of Deputies' Privileges and Activating Termination of Membership

Speaker of parliament Saleem al-Jubouri announced on Thursday the cancellation of all parliamentary leave and activate the termination of membership starting from the next legislative term.
"A new mechanism will be adopted during the next legislative term to control the deputies' commitment to attend the meetings, and all the vacations will be canceled and limited to 8 sessions according to the rules of procedure," Jubouri said.
"A team of staff will record the actual attendance based on the cameras in the sitting room," he said.
He continued, "The Presidency of the Council will provide during the next legislative term the names of deputies whose absences exceeded the legal limit without a legitimate excuse will be considered termination of their membership in the event of completion of the audit files."
