    Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zebari, received on September 9, 2013, at the Baghdad International Airport Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Frans Timmermans, and the delegation accompanying him.

    The Dutch Minister's visit to Baghdad aims at discussing the Iraqi - Dutch relations, energy issues, as well as regional situation developments and the escalating Syrian crisis.

    The Dutch Minister met during his visit Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki and Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Hussain Al Shahristani.

    Then the two Ministers of Foreign Affairs held talks at the Foreign Ministry concerning bilateral relations and cooperation opportunities in a number of areas of common interests, stressing their keenness to increase trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, especially since the volume of trade exchange between the two countries has increased significantly during the last three years in the areas of importing machinery, services, food, etc, moreover, Iraq's exports of oil to the Dutch market are increasing.

    During the talks, the conditions of the Iraqi community in the Netherlands and issues related to human rights were also discussed.
    Both sides held a press conference briefing the results of the visit.
